The Clues Of Tesla Cybertruck

Dec 05, 2023

The much-watched Tesla Cybertruck will be delivered in less than a week.

This electric pickup truck has a unique design and powerful performance. However, since the prototype was released in 2019, it has experienced many production delays and design changes. At the time of delivery, there is very little vehicle information released to the outside world. Foreign media interviewed dozens of Cybertruck subscribers, all of whom said that they have never received any updates from Tesla since booking.

What exactly is the mysterious Cybertruck like? Looking for "clues" from public information.

It is reported that the appearance of the mass-produced Cybertruck is similar to that of the prototype exhibited in 2019, such as the shape of the mecha's wind and the tip design with a triangular top, but there are also some changes. The obvious changes include the huge windshield wiper, the newly added triangular rearview mirror, the deeper and wider front bumper, and the reduced size.

In February 2021, elon musk said that the mass-produced Cybertruck would be "reduced by about 3%". At present, Tesla has not released the model size information officially, but some media (The Fast Lane EV) claimed that this electric truck is 223.2 inches long (about 5670mm), 79.9 inches wide (about 2029mm) (excluding rearview mirror), 70.5 inches high (about 1791mm), with a medium air suspension and a wheelbase of 143 inches (about 3632mm). This makes Cybertruck between the medium-sized pickup truck and the full-size pickup truck, closer to the latter.

Elon musk publicly stated last month that Cybertruck weighed about 6,000-7,000 pounds (about 2.72-3.18 tons) and marked it as a "heavy pickup truck". The Fast Lane EV pointed out that the Cybertruck dual-motor model weighs 6,670 pounds (about 3.03 tons) and the three-motor model weighs 6,890 pounds (about 3.13 tons). This is about the same weight as the Ford F-250 heavy pickup truck.

Inside the vehicle, Cyberruck also has some changes. It adopts a new steering wheel, which looks like a combination of the yoke steering wheel of Cyberruck concept car and the traditional steering wheel. Another major change is that the huge center console of the production model replaces the front middle seat of the concept car.

In terms of interiors, all the vehicles exposed so far have all-black interiors, but recently it was discovered that there are also interiors with white door cards and some white dashboards. In addition, the interior of the vehicle is spacious and can accommodate five passengers.

Thanks to the body made of ultra-tough sheet molding composite, Cybertruck should have good durability. According to the advertising information of a Tesla store, Cybertruck has a maximum traction mass of 11,000 pounds (about 4990kg) and a payload of 2,500 pounds (about 1134kg). The maximum traction mass exceeds 10,000 pounds (about 4536kg) of Ford F-150 Lightning, and the payload is 265 pounds (about 120kg) higher than Ford F-150 Lightning. The maximum "Tongue Weight" (the maximum weight transmitted by the front trailer hook to the front wheel axle) is 1,110 pounds (about 503kg).

According to The Fast Lane EV, the Cybertruck pickup truck is 72.8 inches long (about 1849mm), 51 inches wide (about 1295mm) and has a load-bearing capacity of 420 pounds (about 191kg). It is also equipped with an electric trunk lid and two 120V and one 240V rear sockets.

According to NHTSA official, Cybertruck will provide two options: dual-motor and three-motor powertrain, both of which are equipped with standard all-wheel drive. In terms of power, Musk once said that Cybertruck shortened the acceleration time of 0-60 mph to less than 3 seconds (the so-called "beast mode"). In September, Musk said that Cyberruck's performance was "by going up one flight of stairs". Some people speculated that Cyberruck's three-motor powertrain would come from Model X Plaid, but it has not been confirmed.

Members of the Cyberruck Owners' Club Forum are rumored that Cyberruck will have a cruising range of about 350 miles, but there is no official information yet. It is expected to be equipped with a 4680 battery pack. It is worth noting that Cybertruck will become Tesla's first passenger car with an 800-volt electrical architecture, which will shorten the fast charging time.
