At the same time as the 2025 upgraded version of GT-R was launched yesterday (see link at the end of the article for details), Nissan also released two new limited-production models of the 2024 Nissan GT-R series: T-spec Takumi Edition and Skyline Edition. The Takumi Edition also comes with all the upgrades found on the regular GT-R T-spec, including carbon-ceramic brakes, gold-plated Rays forged 20-inch wheels and wider front fenders. Most notably, the Takumi Edition comes in an attractive exterior paint color called Midnight Purple.
The interior is equally unique, with a Forest Green color scheme on the seats and other surfaces, pairing the Midnight Purple exterior paint with the Forest Green interior.
The Takumi GT-R comes with a gold-plated VIN plate and red-letter engine badge, with the word "Takumi" describing Japan's master craftsmen. That's what inspired the 2024 Nissan GT-R T-spec Takumi Edition, as they were responsible for hand-building the car's twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-6 engine. To commemorate this, it has an engine badge with red etched text bearing the name of the engine crew and a gold-plated VIN under the hood.
The 2024 Nissan GT-R Skyline Edition has a gorgeous body paint called Bayside Blue. As the company points out, this color originally didn't appear after the R34 generation. However, it will return with a 50th Anniversary Edition pack. The Skyline Edition is also based on the Premium grade and comes in a new sky blue color for the interior called Solar Blue.
Nissan said that the 2024 model has revised the design of the GT-R's front and rear fascias and rear wing, which will help increase downforce while reducing drag. The 600-horsepower Nismo class also features a new rear wing design with gooseneck struts and 10 percent more surface area.
Other previously announced changes for the 2024 model year include the return of the T-spec grade, as well as the availability of some traditional colors. Nissan has not yet revealed how much the 2024 GT-R Special Edition will cost, nor how many of each model will be available. This information is said to be coming soon when these limited editions arrive at U.S. dealers this summer. Will they also be part of the final R35 model?
