How to check the air leakage of automobile tires

Nov 07, 2023

1. Determine whether there is air leakage. Before checking the position of air leakage, it is necessary to judge whether the tire is leaking. If the vehicle is parked for a long time, it may also lead to low tire pressure; Or affected by hot weather, tire pressure will leak faster; After a long time, it will also lead to insufficient tire pressure. Generally, if the tire pressure of one car is insufficient and the others are normal, it needs to be checked.

2. Determine the possible location of air leakage. Air leakage may have cracks or pins in the tire, so the first thing we need to do is to find the cause of air leakage. If it is pin leakage, find the location of the pin. Nailing is usually on the tread, and cracks mostly occur on the sidewall. Of course, tire leakage may occur at the tire valve.

3. Judge whether the nail leaks. If the tire is nailed, it may or may not leak. The judgment method is to spray soapy water. If there is no air leakage, pull out the nail a little and try spraying again. If there is air leakage, you need to repair the tire. If there is no air leakage, pull out the nail.

4. Judge whether there is crack. Check the cracks. Generally, check whether there is a big crack with naked eyes. If there is, spray soapy water on the crack to see if there are bubbles. If there is, it is a crack that leaks. If not, check elsewhere.

5. Judge that the air nozzle is leaking. The gas nozzle is also a part that often leaks gas. Take off the gas nozzle and spray soapy water directly to the gas nozzle to see if there are bubbles.

6. Comprehensive inspection. If all the above methods fail, spray soapy water all over the tire and rotate the tire while spraying until it is sprayed all over the tire. If you still can't check it out, you should judge whether the tire was inflated too little during the previous maintenance.
