Disadvantages of installing automatic clutch in manual gear

Jan 03, 2024

Automatic clutch is an automatic clutch control system developed for manual transmission cars. On the basis of not changing the gearbox and clutch of the original car, an independent intelligent clutch control system is installed, and the clutch is controlled by a microcomputer, so as to achieve the function of "driving without stepping on the clutch", and there is no need to worry about the problem of too frequent oil-oil cooperation when encountering stop-and-go congested roads.

From a technical point of view, the clutch can be automatically separated and combined by installing the sensor at the position such as the gear lever, and the driver only needs to shift gears without stepping on the clutch as before, which is equivalent to changing the traditional manual gearbox into AMT gearbox. An experienced manual driver can drive the vehicle very smoothly, but the modified clutch is controlled by ECU, which can't absolutely meet the driver's intention, resulting in some discomfort in driving.

The manual transmission vehicle is usually realized by stepping on the clutch when it creeps at low speed. With the added automatic clutch, it is possible that the driven plate of the clutch pressure plate and the friction plate will be in a state of relative motion for a long time, which will aggravate the wear of the clutch and shorten the service life of the clutch.

After all, the automatic clutch belongs to the original system of the vehicle, and the modification will inevitably change the structure of the original vehicle. Therefore, if the owner wants to modify the manual gear into an automatic gear, he should carefully consider it before taking it. If he has not bought a car, he should consider a more suitable model in advance to avoid unnecessary troubles in the later period.
